Students successfully completing the Wind Energy & Turbine Technology degree program can immediately seek employment in renewable energy field. The program will prepare students to maintain and repair wind turbines while focusing on skill-based training covering the electrical and mechanical aspects of the turbine.
The program is one of only a few in the nation with a focus in a relatively new field that has the potential for great expansion. In Clinton County alone, over 400 turbines were completed in 2009 with projections of two wind turbine technicians for every 10 turbines. Other areas in the nation are considering or actively installing wind parks with even greater potential for employment.
Students considering this program should have mechanical aptitude, reasonable math skills, a desire to work outside, the physical ability to climb a 260 foot tower, work at that height in close quarters, and have a personal interest in renewable energy technology.
