What math do I need to take to get into MAT204?
Students can take this course after successfully completing MAT104 College Algebra with Trigonometry I at Clinton Community College (CCC) or an equivalent course at another recognized institution. Students may also place directly into this course by scoring sufficiently high on the CCC math placement exam or by recommendation of a math faculty member.
Who should take MAT204?
This course is generally taken by math, science, and computer science majors who are preparing for Calculus I; however, other students who have met the prerequisites may take this course as a math elective. Successful completion of MAT204 will satisfy the SUNY General Education Requirement for the knowledge area of mathematics.
What will I learn in MAT204?
This course is the second of a two-semester sequence designed to prepare students for calculus and technical courses. Course topics include exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions; trigonometric identities and equations; oblique triangles; polar coordinates; conic sections; systems of equations; and matrices. The use of the graphing calculator is required for this course to further the exploration of these topics and their applications. Near the end of the course, students will complete a comprehensive, departmental final exam.
Prerequisite: MAT104-College Algebra with Trigonometry I, equivalent or placement
